    Hello,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community forum.

In a Remote Desktop environment, after the license server is successfully activated and the RDS CAL is installed, the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager starts tracking and assigning CAL to users or devices connected to the remote desktop session host(RDSH) as expected.

It is recommended that you check the status of the license server and RDS CAL by referring to the following guidance articles to ensure proper license allocation and use.

Install RDS client access licenses | Microsoft Learn

Installing Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses | Microsoft Learn

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards

    Jacen

    ok thx u Jacen.

what make me curious, is it possible to activate the wrong type of license? for example in my case, my boss told me he bought open license, but because misinformation i activate that license as retail version. Or maybe the license my company bought was not valid license?

    regards

    johnny

    Hello Johnny,

My understanding of RDS CAL validity usually refers to version compatibility. Regarding the deployment differences between different versions of RDS CAL purchased, such as retail versions, volume license versions, etc., after activation, it is recommended that you contact the Microsoft licensing expert or contact your IT administrator to confirm with vendor.

    Best regards,

    Jacen
