Hello
Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community.
- Confirm that the Group Policy settings are correct
First, confirm that you have correctly enabled the Group Policy to disable the Snipping Tool. Follow the steps below to check if the policy is correctly configured:
Open the Local Group Policy Editor:
Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
Navigate to the corresponding policy:
Go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Snipping Tool.
Find the "Prevent Snipping Tool from running" policy and double-click it to open it.
Make sure this policy is enabled and set to Enabled. If it is set to Not Configured or Disabled, the Snipping Tool will not be disabled.
Force update after applying the Group Policy:
In the Command Prompt (Run as Administrator), run the following command to force the policy to update:
gpupdate /force
Restart the computer:
Sometimes, the policy does not take effect after an immediate update, and restarting the computer may help the policy take effect.
- Check if there are other policies that override it
If you have configured a policy to disable the Snipping Tool according to the steps above, but you can still use the Snipping Tool, it may be that other policies or settings are overriding the policy. Make sure of the following aspects:
Check other Group Policy settings:
Look for settings that may affect the Snipping Tool in all relevant Group Policies under Computer Configuration and User Configuration, especially those related to Windows Components or Preventing applications from running.
If there are other policies set to allow the Snipping Tool, it may conflict with the disabling policy.
- Use Windows Settings to disable the Snipping Tool
If Group Policy still does not work to disable the Snipping Tool, you can try to disable it using Windows Settings:
Disable Snipping Tool through Apps and Features:
Open Settings > Apps > Optional Features.
Find Snipping Tool and click Uninstall.
If you do not want to uninstall the app, you can also disable or delete the app here.
I hope the above information is helpful to you.
Best regards
