I have SOUNCE M.2 SSD enclosure that I have been using it for a few days. The SSD is Crucial P3 Plus 1TB NVME M.2 SSD. Today I encountered with an issue that happened while I was transferring files. I was transferring around 56GB of files from my USB that was connected to one of the ports in my laptop and the other port was connected to the SSD enclosure, and all of a sudden at 89%, it said, "couldn't transfer files because the file was missing". (*NOTE: I was copying the files, not moving them). Then the operation was cancelled. and all I saw was this:

Screenshot 2025-06-24 211843 It also says "E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect Function"

Entire E: Drive space goes missing. I tried to plug out and plug back in the SSD and the USB connection still nothing. All was the same.

I searched in the DISKPART and it shows like this:

Even the Disk Management says the drive is online, But shows 0B and status as UNUSABLE.

How can I fix this issue? Please. Any help is appreciated.

Thank You.

    Step What to Try Goal
1 Power cycle enclosure Reset controller
2 Try on another port/PC Rule out PC issues
3 Try different enclosure or PC M.2 slot Rule out enclosure failure
4 Run SSD diagnostics (Crucial Executive, CrystalDiskInfo) Assess SSD health
5 If nothing works and data isn't needed, diskpart clean Reset disk
    1. If data recovery is critical, avoid further writes. Consider using professional recovery services.
    2. Crucial P3 Plus is PCIe Gen4, but your enclosure may not support full speed—make sure enclosure firmware is updated if available.
    3. Always eject drives safely during large transfers to avoid controller crash/freeze.

Not to worry, Just Pull out the m.2 from the enclosure, and stick it into the motherboard directly it works, same thing happened with me. I think its some sort of issue thats related to the enclosure.
