Cannot get Product Conversion Goals to work

Hi.

We have Product Conversion Goals setup for a number o four clients, however, none of them seem to work. We implemented the UET and the Conversion via GTM. GTM Preview shows the tags firing as expected. And UET Helper also showed the conversion goal firing & all data showing within as appropriate. However, the Goals have still not indicated any conversions in-platform.

Here are out setups:

UET:

(Trigger is set to All Pages)

Conversion Goal:

(Trigger is set to fire on a Custom Event - and it DOES fire with variables sent to the dataLayer as expected).

Any help in getting to the bottom of this is appreciated. We also tried setting up the tags in GTM as the raw scripts with appropriate variables as well without any success. :(

Thanks!

    Hello Taryn,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Advertising Community forum!

The product conversion goal can help your feed-based campaign ensure that ads that eventually lead to conversions get credit for those conversions. It can work in two different ways:

    • As a retailer, accurately attribute purchases: A customer clicks an ad for Product A, navigates away without purchasing, subsequently clicks an ad for Product B, but ends up purchasing Product A. Normally, this conversion would be attributed to the ad for Product B because that was the ad last clicked. However, with the product conversion goal, you can track this as a conversion for the ad for Product A.
    • As a retailer participating in Microsoft Shopping Campaigns for Brands, attribute same-brand purchases: A customer clicks an ad for Product A (Brand X), but ends up purchasing Product B (Brand X). Normally, no conversion would be reported. However, with the product conversion goal for brands, you can track this as a conversion for Brand X. You must have Microsoft Shopping Campaigns for Brands set up for this scenario.

Before you start setting up a product conversion goal, make sure you have:

Use goal categories to segment your conversion goals

Before you choose a goal type, you must choose a goal category. Use goal categories to segment your goals and their performance metrics in a way that is meaningful to your business. Goal categories don't affect performance—they are just here to help keep your conversion goals organized.

Your options for goal category depend on your conversion type. We have classified the goal categories as either Sales categoriesLeads categories, or Other categories.

Taryn, To answer your query I had to sent you a private message as I need additional info specific to your account.

    Sincerely,
