I am seeing contacts weirdness too. Most recently, after an update to the Google Contacts app, many photos in the contacts disappeared. I tried resynching per the instruction at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/fixing-contact-syncing-problems-with-surface-duo-76d3d685-ac11-4869-8f07-fac80465a48c but that didn't help. It would be great if there was a concise, full description of how all contacts on Microsoft (and Google for the Duo devices) services work, and how to avoid problems. I just went through all of my contacts and something had added a bunch of Skype-only contacts to the list. Sigh...
Contacts: I have many duplicate, triplicate, multiple entries of contacts in Duo Contacts
I have a vast number of multiple entries of the same contact in my Duo Contacts. (See attached, showing the contacts as they appear in Outlook on my PC, don't be confused. It is just an easy way to show it.)
I've tried a lot of things, but I can't figure it out. Between Outlook app on my laptop, Windows Mail on my laptop, Outlook app on my Duo 1, Outlook.com website and Google Android contact apps, my contacts have become a big jumble.
What causes that?
How can I prevent it from happening again? (I have memories all all contacts merging and synchronizing seamlessly, but alas now....)
Is there an easy way to eliminate them (without deleting them one-by-one)?
(It's not Link to Windows is it?)

2023-03-23T09:17:02+00:00 Thanks. Good to hear from someone else with the same problem. I know others have had the problem too.
Anyone else have input to for this problem?

2023-03-27T20:07:36+00:00 Contacts seemed to have stabilized after the synching nightmare. It took awhile, but eventually the contacts in outlook.com and the phone's Google Contacts list synched. Eventually photos were also showing back in the Google Contacts and appearing in the Messages and Phone apps.
Since this coincided with an update to the Google Messages app, I'm fairly sure it was some change then that caused the issue. That said, the Duo and Duo 2 are Microsoft's products, and they came with Google Messages as default. Whatever happened was Microsoft's ultimate responsibility.
(This is not the first time this has happened after a Google Messages app update. It just took longer to be resolved. It's really painful when you wake up in the morning and check your text messages and instead of sender names and photos you recognize all you see is are phone numbers.)
