Airpods Not connecting property to Surface Pro 10

I can pair my airpods with my Surface book 2 laptop, however they will rapidly connect and disconnect. And when it says "connected", no sound will play through the airpods. I've tried looking up a couple of fixes online but nothing is working.

    I had the same exact problem with the Airpods Pro. My problem, as you mentioned, was the the rapid flickering back and forth between Paired andConnectedwith the Airpods ultimately never connecting. 

    For me, the solution was to restart the whole process as follows:

    1. Place your Airpods or Airpods Pro back into the case > Close the case > Set the Airpods down. 
    2. On your Surface computer > Settings > Devices
    3. Select Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth
    4. Pickup Airpods Case > Open Airpods case (Don't remove Airpods) > Press/Hold button on back of Airpods case until the Airpods are located by your Surface computer.

    Your Surface computer should be able to at least find your Airpods by following the above steps.

    *This is where I started having the problem stated at the beginning*

    Solution:

    1. Go to settings > Type "Device Manager" in the search box.
    2. Once Device Manager is open, select Human Interface Devices
    3. Locate Bluetooth Low Energy GATT complaint HID device > Right-Click >Properties
    4. Select the 5th tab called Power Management
    5. Locate the checkbox "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and UNCHECK this box!
    6. RESTART COMPUTER! *(This is what ultimately fixed my problem)*

    I couldn't even find a "Bluetooth Low Energy GATT complaint HID device"  under Human Interface Devices, and any other Bluetooth options in the Device Manager didn't have a power management option. However, when I clicked on "Converted Portable Device Control device properties" under Human Interface Devices, I found the power management option and disabled it. My AirPods are working correctly now. I hope I'm not saying this too soon and that it's not just because I just updated my Surface, but I've had this problem for a long time and updates haven't fixed the problem before. Hopefully this will work for you. It's unfortunate we have to deep dive into our settings to get headphones to connect right.

    Just in case, this wont help you can try to check your Device Manager while your Airpods are connected, try to uncheck the thick box indicates "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

    Device Manager> Bluetooth > Look for the Bluetooth that mark your Airpods > Right click and look for the tab "Power Management" then look for  "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" uncheck it.

    My son is having the same problem pairing airpods with his Surface Pro 6 (it connects and then suddenly disconnects) - but when I go to Device Manager> Bluetooth > and then right click on the airpods the power management tab isn't there. Any hints or other suggestions for helping connecting and keeping them connected?
