running vmware on my surface book 3

Hi,

I just got my Surface Book 3 and tried to run ubuntu using Vmware, I then got an error message about Credential guard, how can I fix this.

    Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your concerns. We are sorry to learn you have issues running Ubuntu via Vmware with your Surface Book 3. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this and allowing us to help you out. I am afraid to inform you that running a non-Windows OS on the device is not advisable. However, you may check this page to learn more about How Windows Defender Credential Guard works. There are other articles there related to Credential Guard that may help you out as well. You may read further there for more information.

    Hi Killswitch,

    Did you have any success here.  I have tried a few things but keep getting errors.  I just upgraded from a Surface 3 to the new Book to have more resources to run a VM.

    Janette,

    Thanks for your time.  But I if this setting has not worked then it must be something else.  It would not matter if the VM was Windows or not as the same issue would occur with VMWare Workstation or Pro.

    I'm getting this error as well on my Surface Book 3 and have tried near everything. I have no HyperV etc installed and have been through all the suggested steps over and over again but still get the BS error about credential guard despite it supposedly disabled in GPedit. It's getting annoying.  I had considered going to HyperV but then found it doesn't support USB passthrough and I need that when mobile so network USB is not a consideration.
