Duo 2 Android 12L breaks calling

Since the Android 12L update, I have not been able to make or receive calls. Incoming goes straight to voicemail and outgoing immediately ends calls. Carrier is T-Mobile. I suspect the issue is the same at what happened with the AUS phones as listed here Android 12 Breaks Calls — ZenTalk (asus.com)

This required an update to get the calls working again. Is there such as update in the works as right now my due 2 is just a tablet that cannot make calls.

Everything else works btw even calls with WhatsApp and teams

Updated 12/8/2022 - Marking as "Answered" to raise visibility for now. We will update this response with more information.

Thank you for reporting this issue. If you are encountering this issue (incoming calls go to voice mail and outgoing calls end immediately), a fix has been released today, December 8th, and is available by updating your Surface Duo 2. For more information on how to update your Surface Duo 2 see Update Surface Duo.

Please let us know if this does not resolve the issue you are seeing. If it does not resolve the issue you are seeing, one thing to try is to temporarily insert a SIM from a different mobile operator and then change back to the SIM you are using. If you are encountering a different issue, please start a new thread by clicking Ask a new question in the upper right corner.

    Here are the steps:

    1. Press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds, and then choose the Power off option to turn off your Surface Duo 2.
    2. Take out your current SIM.
    3. Insert a SIM from a different mobile operator (not your existing mobile operator).
    4. Press the power button to turn on your Surface Duo 2 and sign into your device.
    5. Once the device connects to the mobile network, press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds, and then choose the Power off option to turn off your Surface Duo 2.
    6. Take out the SIM and then place your original SIM back into your Surface Duo 2.
    7. Press the power button to turn on your Surface Duo 2.

If updating your Surface Duo 2 or the above steps do not help, please contact support for Surface devices by going to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, click on the link to show the expanded list of products, then click Surface devices.

We have two Surface Duo 2s, both on Android 12L and T-Mobile. All calling features are working properly. Have you tried hard-resetting (depress the power button until the phone turns off) the phone?

Interesting. The following has been done.

    1. Reset of Network Setting
    2. new SIM from the T-Mobile Store
    3. Complete reset of the phone (big pain)

Just tried what you suggested for the hell of it but still not working.

Sorry you're seeing this, but I don't think it's a wide-spread issue since I have not seen others mention it in the various forums, etc. that I follow for the Surface Duo line.

Yes its starting to look that way. If anyone knows if it's possible to roll back to android 11 please let me know otherwise it's going to have to be sent off for repair and with no new units available, I am worried that I will not get a Duo 2 back and I love my phone. Right now I am carrying two phones. One with all my data and apps and an iPhone just to make calls..........
