Duo 2 and sim

Who do I ask specific questions about configuration and abilities for Surface duo 2? For example, I see this has SIM and eSIM – does this mean I could put a voice and text only account on one and a data only account on the other? The company will put the device on the company’s data account, but won’t pay for voice / text service, so I might want to have their account for the data, my account for voice / text. Need to know if that’s possible, if they would work at the same time so I could get calls while using data, etc.

I believe the Surface Duo 2 supports what you need to do. This was discussed on a recent Windows Central podcast and on a WIndows Central FAQ page for the Surface Duo 2: https://www.windowscentral.com/surface-duo-2-faq . The specific FAQ says:

"Can eSIM and physical SIM be active at the same time (dual-SIM)?

Yes. While the unlocked version of Surface Duo 2 supports eSIM (electronic) and nanoSIM (physical), the Snapdragon 888 allows for both to be used simultaneously."

What about the original Duo? I know it has nano and e-sim capability as well. I am looking at buying an original duo 256gb unlocked.

Per the quotation in my post the Surface Duo 2 simultaneous dual SIM capability is provided the Snapdragon 888 System on a Chip. The original Surface Duo does not have this functionality.

My Surface Duo USB port crack around it and still under one year warranty however response from Microsoft Support is to contact them. So I contacted them but they are asking for $760 Canadian for shipping the unit for repair. This is a well know deficiency of the frame construction around the USB C-Port and they are well aware of the issue but they simply want to make more money out of their poor case design. The frame around the unit like all other similar cell phones should have been metal. This is my first Microsoft hardware purchase and unfortunately would the last one. I will start posting my comments where ever possible to advise others to stay away from purchase of such poor constructed unit with such high price.
