Surface Duo 2 and Hearing Aids

I just got hearing aids and am trying to stream audio (including phone calling) through my Surface Duo 2 Android 12 phone. It appears this was not possible with Surface Duo Surface Duo with Android 11 Digital Hearing Aid Compatibility - Microsoft Community and I don't see Surface Duo 2 on the AHSA compatibility list. Device compatibility | Signia Not looking good so far.

The specs for Surface Duo 2 Surface Duo 2 Dual-Screen Devices for Business - Microsoft Surface for Business specify "Hearing aid compatibility: M4/T3" That is not AHSA. I think it just means the audio from a phone can be picked up (like all other ambient audio) by a hearing aid.

Oddly the hearing aids show up as a Bluetooth option when I am on the phone -- but switching to the hearing aids does not stream sound to them. And I am glad I can use the Philips app to control the hearing aids.

If you have any input on how to stream audio from a Surface Duo 2 to hearing aids, please share!

    Hi DNuffer,

Can you share with us the exact hearing aid model you are using?

    Additionally:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Tap Connected devices
    3. Under Previously connected devices, next to your hearing aids, click the gear icon to go to the device details.
    4. Do you show options for “Phone calls”, “Media audio”, and “Contact sharing”?

Was there a resolution for this? I am having the same issue...Surface Duo 2 with Phillips hearing aids. The Phillips app does control the hearing aids, but media audio and call audio do not come through the hearing aids. When in a call the option shows to route sound to the hearing aids, but no sound comes out of the hearing aids.

    Thank you and blessings, joe

I’m having the exact same issue with my Surface Duo 2 and Oticon Ruby 1 miniRITE hearing aid. There are no options in the device setting other than to Forget or Connect. This is the only Android phone with this issue, so it has to be on Microsoft’s side.

I’ve re-paired the hearing aid a dozen times with no change. I’ve been dying to get a Surface Duo 2 since it was released and now I find I can’t even use it. It’s very upsetting to see that this was a known issue that I missed and that hasn’t been resolved by Microsoft.

Sadly I had to sell my Surface Duo 2 and buy a galaxy fold 4. But happily the fold 4 is an awesome phone.
