That makes sense! Yes, you can use the OneNote app to take notes with the pen in any orientation (landscape or portrait) and with the app on a single screen or spanned across both screens, without the keyboard showing.
Hope that helps!

Can I use Surface Duo (original) in portrait posture for taking notes with pen in OneNote? I want to take notes on the whole screen, with no keyboard on the screen. Thanks.

Hi PeteWoodward,
I'm not sure I understand your question. If you are holding the phone in portrait, the keyboard should not pop up if you are using the pen to take notes. Are you seeing an issue with the keyboard appearing on the screen when it shouldn't?
Please feel free to upload a screenshot to help explain further.
Hi @brinjo_msft thanks for your quick response. I don't actually own as Duo as yet. I'm looking to buy one soon, but my main use will be note-taking for work, but I've been unable to find any video of soemone using it like that. All I've seen are pictures showing it in portrait with the keyboard showing on the lower half.
I'm not sure whether I'd be better off with a Surface Go 3 for my main usage case.
Kind regards,
Pete
Excellent, thanks so much. Very helpful - I just need to decide on screen real estate. Appreciate your quick responses!
