You need to use the Nvidia processor for Photoshop. Assuming you have a Surface version with it. You can use Studio Mode like a (heavy) tablet.
Surface Book 2 Overheating in Tablet Mode
I was running Photoshop on my Surface Book 2 in Tablet mode with a stylus. The computer began to overheat and there was a lag in the program and then the program crashed. A couple of times. I was not running anything else.
I've only had this computer for a couple of weeks and this is the first time I was using this program and experienced this problem. As soon as I turned the screen around or reattached it the battery cooled. If I can't use the tablet mode with the stylus I might as well just purchase a laptop and forget the Surface book.
Thoughts? Help?

You should also manually run windows update to be sure you're up to date.
You might also use the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4037239/surface-fix-common-surface-problems-using-surface-diagnostic-toolkit
