Apologies on this experience and it will also be best if you can provide a feedback via the browser if you will be able to and if you also have a device that is running on Windows you can also cascade it from there via the Feedback Hub app by pressing Windows key + F so that the team that is working on MS Edge for Mac OS can check and work on this and hopefully this will be sorted on the next update and also in the event that you will be trying out a different version soon I would also suggest to do the below before trying it out. You can also clean up any remnants of MS Edge on your device if there is any by checking the following from the hidden ~/Library folder.
