I liked how ME was better at battery usage than chrome itself so I started to use it. However, after a while I tried to watch a video and it struggled a lot then I tried on Youtube and I noticed how my mac was loud checking the Activity Monitor I noticed an unnecessary high usage of CPU. I tried the same video at the same resolution on Chrome and Safari. Here are the results:

As you can see Edge eats my cpu, chrome is more moderate with safari being the best.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you’re seeing High CPU usage when playing videos on Microsoft Edge for Mac. I will certainly try my best to assist you with the issue.

One of the things that I would suggest you to do is try disabling Microsoft Defender SmartScreen by going to Microsoft Edge settings.

    1. Open Microsoft Edge.
    2. Now on the address bar type edge://settings/privacy
    3. Under Microsoft Defender SmartScreen toggle the switch to Off

Let us know if you need any further assistance, we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards,
