I am using Microsoft Edge on my Macbook M1 (MacOS Sonoma). I can't figure out why it keeps displaying "Microsoft Edge is capturing your screen" in the Menu Bar. I have already tried quitting the application and restarting the computer,, but it still doesn't go away. Is this an error? How can I resolve it?

*note: I tried to upload the screenshot but failed*

Hello, sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

The message “Microsoft Edge is capturing your screen” is not an error but a security feature of macOS that informs you when an application is accessing your screen.

This is to ensure that you are aware of which applications are capturing your screen at any given time.

However, if you’re seeing this message persistently, it could be due to a bug or some settings in Microsoft Edge. Here are a few things you can try:

In Edge settings, make sure you don’t have any settings enabled that would cause Edge to capture your screen. This could include certain extensions or developer tools.

If you have Edge Extentions, you can disable them to check if the problem still occurs.

    Or you can reinstall Edge.

Go to www.microsoft.com/edge to download and reinstall Microsoft Edge.
