Edge App Stopped Keeping Me Logged In and Stopped Counting Read Emails Sometime Today

At some point in the middle of the day, Edge on Android stopped working correctly with login and emails. The first two emails I read counted towards rewards, the 6+ emails I read after did not. Also, it will not keep me logged in, even if I keep outlook.com open in the Edge browser. At first I thought it was because I got a new phone, but I have no issues with the Bing or Xbox apps. Clearly this is Edge-related. So, I am at 2/3 read emails even though I read many more than that. I don't care so much about the reward points. What I really care about is that Edge logs me out every time I close or minimize the window. It is really annoying! It is not working like it should! That is what the real issue is here. If I login to my email on Edge, it should keep me logged in from then on unless I lapse for 2 or more days.

    Hello Nicole Houston,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

I understand that you’re experiencing an issue where Microsoft Edge on Android does not stay signed in and you’re having trouble reading emails. According to your description, other apps like Bing and Xbox are working fine on your new phone.

When it comes to troubleshooting browser issues, the steps are usually quite standard—such as addressing potential problems with the network, cache, settings, or browser profile. Here are some steps you can try:

1.Clear Edge browser cache and data – Recommended first step:

This is one of the most common and effective methods to resolve abnormal app behavior. It will not delete your bookmarks or saved passwords.

Disclaimer: Your browser automatically saves temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix website issues. Please back up all your personal files first, such as Favorites, to ensure you do not lose data.

Open Edge browser > Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Select Clear browsing data (you can choose what to delete and the time range here).

    2.Update Microsoft Edge:

Make sure your Edge browser is up to date. Updates from the app store often include bug fixes and performance improvements.

    3.Reinstall Microsoft Edge:

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, as a last resort, try uninstalling Edge and then reinstalling it from the Google Play Store.

Additionally, since Microsoft Edge offers preview versions, you could install a different version of Edge (e.g., Edge Beta or Dev) on your phone. This may help isolate whether the issue is specific to a particular version.

As for issues on the webpage itself, it’s recommended to try logging in to your email in InPrivate mode (incognito) and see if the issue still occurs.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue with Edge. Please try them and let me know the outcome.

    Best wishes
