    Dear @Dani,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand that you're experiencing an issue where verification codes from apps like Discord are no longer being received after changing your Microsoft account alias from @hotmail.com to @outlook.com. This is a known issue that can arise due to how Microsoft handles alias changes and how third-party services interact with your account. Here are some things I recommend you check:

Method 1: Check Which Email the Service Is Using Log in to the third-party service (e.g., Discord) and verify which email address is listed in your account settings. If it’s still the @hotmail.com alias, update it to your new @outlook.com alias.

The first thing I need to explain to you is that if you delete an alias that is an e-mail address from a Microsoft domain such as @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com, the alias is permanently deleted, and it is no longer associated with any Microsoft account.

If you delete an e-mail address from a non-Microsoft domain, such as @gmail.com, it can usually be immediately added as an alias for another Microsoft account.

Method 2: Re-add the Old Alias (If Possible)

If you didn’t delete the @hotmail.com alias, you might be able to re-add it as a secondary alias.

Method 3: Add a Backup Verification Method

Go to your https://account.live.com/proofs/manage and add a backup email or phone number to ensure you can still receive codes through alternate channel. For reference: Microsoft account security info & verification codes

Method 4: Whitelist the Sender Domain

    • Add the sender’s domain (e.g., @discord.com) to your safe sender list in Outlook settings.
    • Also, check your spam, junk, and other folders like “Promotions” or “Social”

Method 5: Wait Out Cooldown Periods If you’ve made multiple failed attempts, your account may be in a temporary cooldown period. Wait 24–48 hours before trying again. Method 6: Contact Microsoft Support If none of the above works, contact Microsoft support directly. Use this https://support.microsoft.com/contactus and select “Manage Account Security” to chat with a specialist.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

I'm looking forward for your reply.
