We have switched to a new printer, and the Quick Print option now cuts off the page borders. Can anyone advise on how to resolve this issue? I have adjusted the default settings and am printing from a PDF.

To resolve the issue of the Quick Print option cutting off page borders when using a new printer, you may want to check the following:

    1. Printer Settings: Ensure that the default paper size and margins are correctly set in the printer settings. Sometimes, the printer may default to a different paper size than what is intended.
    2. PDF Settings: When printing from a PDF, check the print settings in the PDF viewer. Look for options related to scaling or fit-to-page settings, as these can affect how the document is printed.
    3. Print Management: If you are using a Windows environment, you can adjust the default settings through the Print Management tool. Right-click on the printer, select "Printing Defaults," and ensure the settings match your desired output.

If the problem persists, consider contacting support for further assistance.

    Dear @Janelle,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand that You're experiencing an issue where the Quick Print option cuts off page borders when printing PDFs on a new printer. And I would love to help you.

Before giving you the best solution, could you please confirm these questions below to help me diagnose the issue more effectively:

    • Printer Model: What is the exact model of the new printer?
    • PDF Viewer: Are you using Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Edge, or another app to open and print the PDF?
    • Print Settings: When you adjusted the default settings, did you change scaling options like “Fit to page” or “Actual size”?
    • Border Cutoff: Is it cutting off all sides or just top/bottom or left/right?
    • Other Apps: Does the issue happen only with PDFs or also with Word, Excel, etc.?

According to my research, here are some effective ways to resolve this I recommend you try:

Option 1. Adjust PDF Print Settings

    • Most PDF viewers (like Adobe Acrobat Reader) offer scaling options that can prevent border clipping:
    • Open the PDF and go to File > Print.
    • In the print dialog, look for Page Sizing & Handling.
    • Select “Fit”, “Shrink oversized pages”, or “Scale to printable area”.
    • Avoid “Actual Size” if your printer cannot print edge-to-edge.

Option 2. If you are using Adobe Acrobat Reader

Have you tried changing the page scaling?

What is the scaling set currently? try changing the settings to-

    • Shrink oversized pages or
    • Choose paper source by PDF size. User's image

Otherwise, load up the pdf file into adobe acrobat read and click 'edit' and then select 'take a snap shot.' Then click, drag and highlight with your mouse what you want printed out.

Option 3: Check Printer Driver and Firmware

Ensure your printer driver is up to date. Outdated drivers can misinterpret page dimensions:

Visit your printer manufacturer’s website (e.g., HP, Canon, Epson).

Download and install the latest driver for your model.

    • Also check for firmware updates.

    Option 4. Configure Printer Defaults

    In Windows:

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click your printer > Printing Preferences.

Confirm paper size matches your actual paper (e.g., A4 or Letter).

Set margins appropriately and enable borderless printing if available.

    • Some printers require larger bottom margins (e.g., 12.7mm for HP DeskJet), so ensure your content stays within printable bounds.

Option 5. Use “Print as Image” Option

    • In Adobe Acrobat:
    • Go to Advanced Print Settings.
    • Enable “Print as Image”. This flattens the PDF and can resolve layout issues caused by complex formatting

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

I'm looking forward for your reply.

Hi Vivian,Sorry, I tried to respond on Friday, but I got slammed with work, so here are my answers. :)

We have a new iR-ADV 3922 Canon printer.

I use the Soda PDF editor

I didn't change the print settings until I noticed the issue.

It is only the right-hand side of the page that gets chopped off.

There are three other users and they don't appear to have the same quick print issues. But only really one of them uses quick print as often as I do.

    Good morning Vivian,

I've checked paper guides in the printer. I only use the one printer. Everyone else on the floor (up to four other users) do not have issues printing.

If I open the document and choose print from there, it prints perfectly fine.

I downloaded the latest driver from the Canon link you included, but that didn't change anything either.

All print trays that show A4 have the same result.

I am at a loss...hoping you can come up with a solution for me.

    Cheers

    Janelle

    Hi Vivian,

Unfortunately, I am still having problems. I had a photocopier technician here and he couldn't resolve it either. He gave up and said it is the Soda PDF app and investigated no further. It is only on the one photocopier, though, and I feel there is a way to fix it, I just haven't gotten to the bottom of the issue yet.
