Disable Teams Taskbar Icon Flashing when Notifications Arrive

How can I stop the taskbar teams icon from flashing whenever I have a notification?

In the notifications and activity setting with teams, I have turned on the mute all notifications (except for calls and meetings) setting which stops the banner pop up with the notification preview, however the taskbar still lights up and flashes which can be very distracting.

I can't see any setting which specifically mentions the visual display of notifications within the taskbar.

Am I missing something?

I have the latest teams version 25094.310.3616.953.

Thanks.

    Hi Jack Barnes,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.

Regarding your request to disable the flashing of the Teams icon on the taskbar when notifications arrive, please find below several methods you can try:

Option 1: Adjust Notification Settings in Teams

    1. Open Microsoft Teams.
    2. Click the three-dot menu next to your profile picture (top right), then select Settings.
    3. Go to the Notifications and Activity tab.
    4. Under General, disable Mute all notifications (except for call and meetings)
    5. Under Chats and Channels:
      • Chat message notifications: Choose option Off
      • @mention: Disable (If needed)
      • Replies to my channel posts and replies: Choose option Off
      • Replies to followed threads: Choose option Off
      • Likes and reactions: Choose option Off
      • Posts in shown and pinned channels: Choose option Off
    6. Under General, enable Mute all notifications (except for call and meetings)

Option 2: Change Windows 11 Settings

    1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
    2. Go to Accessibility → Visual effects.
    3. Under Dismiss notifications after this amount of time, choose a short duration (e.g., 5 seconds).
    4. Additionally, go to:
      • Personalization → Taskbar → Taskbar behaviors
      • Uncheck Show flashing on taskbar apps

We hope one of these suggestions does the trick! If the issue continues, feel free to send us a sample file or a screenshot — we’ll be more than happy to take a closer look and help you out.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Clover,

    Thank you for your reply.

I tried the steps within MS teams but it had no effect.

I tried to follow the settings within windows but I am on windows 10, so the "show flashing on taskbar apps" option is not available to me.

Is there anything else you can suggest?

I've inserted a screenshot of the flashing notification to this post.

    Thanks

    Jack
