I am attending a webinar with 25 people and am unable to be added into any breakout room. I am the only one with this issue in the group. I have tried using both a desktop and mobile device with the most recently updated versions of MS Teams. The meeting admin say that they receive a notification that "someone in the group may be using a CVI service". I am joining the meeting from my laptop and phone (apple products) from my home wifi. What is going wrong?

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. There are a couple of reasons why you might be unable to join a breakout room in Microsoft Teams, even though you're using the latest version on up-to-date devices. Here's what could be going on and how to troubleshoot:

    Cloud Video Interop (CVI) Services:

The notification the meeting admin received about "CVI service" might be the culprit. CVI services are used for connecting traditional video conferencing systems to Teams meetings. While uncommon in small meetings, it's possible the organiser is using one, and it might be causing compatibility issues specifically for you.

    Here's what you can do:

Contact the Meeting Organiser: Explain the issue and ask if they're using a CVI service. If so, they might be able to try admitting you directly into the breakout room instead of assigning you automatically.

    Breakout Room Limitations:

There are a few limitations with Teams breakout rooms:

Room Capacity: There's a maximum of 300 participants allowed in a meeting, and each breakout room can have a maximum of 250. If the total number of attendees is close to the limit, assigning everyone to rooms might not be possible. Permissions: Organisers can choose to create open or closed breakout rooms. Open rooms allow participants to request to join, while closed rooms require manual assignment. If the organiser is using closed rooms, they might have accidentally left you out. Troubleshooting Steps:

Check with Organiser: Confirm if the issue is due to room capacity or closed room assignments. Re-join the Meeting: Sometimes a simple refresh can fix glitches. Try leaving and re joining the meeting. Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above solutions work, the issue might be a bug. The organiser can report the issue to Microsoft Support for further investigation.
