Turn off notification tone of member status update information

Since the last update Teams issues the "incoming message" notification tone also when a member status update information appears.

Before, the member status updates came up silent as a pop up on the screen.
It is distracting to hear the "incoming message" tone, if only a member status changes.
I would like to be informed about member status changes silently, like before.

However, I couldn't find how to change that behavior. How can that be achieved?

    I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to you. Unfortunately, there currently isn't a way in Microsoft Teams to differentiate notification sounds for different types of activity, like member status updates and incoming messages. Here are some options you can consider:

    Turn off Notification Sounds Entirely This is a more general approach, but it will silence all notification sounds in Teams, including incoming messages and member status updates. Here's how to do it:

    Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of the Teams window. Select "Settings" from the menu. Go to "Notifications" and activity. Under the "General" section, toggle off the switch for "Play sounds for incoming calls and notifications."

    Note: Currently, only Android mobile devices are able to choose what type of sound plays for notifications.

    Hi Umar,

    thank you for your detailed response.
    So, there's currently no way to be notified silently about member status updates but keep the tone for incoming messages.
    I wonder why they changed this, since member status updates were silent before. I would almost consider this as a bug. :)
