Hi Techintspec,
Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,
This seems to be a feature that was removed in the latest update of Teams.
Some users have suggested some possible workarounds, such as:
- Creating a new team with the same members and settings, but without the ability to post or reply. You can do this by going to the Teams tab, clicking on the Join or create a team button, and choosing Create a team. Then, select Create from an existing team and choose the team you want to mute. Give the new team a name and description, and make sure the Allow members to create, update, and delete channels option is turned off. Then, add the members from the original team and invite them to join the new team.
- Changing the team settings to moderate the team conversations. You can do this by going to the Teams tab, clicking on the More options button next to the team name, and choosing Manage team. Then, select the Settings tab and click on Member permissions. Make sure the Allow members to create and update channels and Allow members to delete and restore channels options are turned off. Then, click on the Guest permissions and make sure the Allow guests to create and update channels and Allow guests to delete channels options are turned off. This will prevent members and guests from creating or deleting channels, and only allow owners to post or reply in team conversations.
- Using the Mute student comments in a class team feature if you are using Teams for Education. This feature allows you to mute students and prevent them from commenting or replying in class conversations. You can also delete any inappropriate messages and keep other students from seeing them. You can do this by going to the Teams tab, clicking on the More options button next to the class team name, and choosing Manage team. Then, select the Members tab and check the box under Mute students to mute all students at once, or check the box next to each student's name to mute them individually.
I hope this helps!
Regards, Sola
