Expanding members of Dynamic Distribution Group does not work

In Outlook for Windows or OWA, nothing happens when clicking on + (or right-click and expand group).

In Outlook for Mac - it works fine; the group shows members as for the regular distribution group.

When searching for similar problems, I found many closed threads without a solution, with a note that it’s working that way “by design.” It's hard to believe it’s “by design” because:

  1. It works on a Mac.
  2. Why have the expand option if it doesn't work?
  3. On https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/recipients-in-exchange-online/manage-dynamic-distribution-groups/modern-dynamic-distribution-groupsyou you can find a note: „The membership list is now stored for each DDG and is updated once every 24 hours. You'll know exactly to whom the message is being sent, and it also addresses potential compliance issues…”

So, regardless of the complexity of the rules or whether a given user has access to the conditions of DDG, everyone has access to the members. It’s confirmed that it works via PowerShell for everyone, not admins.

Has anyone managed to do this via Windows client or OWA?

In my opinion it's a bug that needs fixing, and I hope a solution is on the way :)

This is important because when you send a meeting invitation, you can't see whether each participant has already responded, which makes DDS useless for sending meeting invitations.

The fundamental nature of DDGs is that their membership is determined by a set of criteria rather than being a fixed list of members. This may contribute to the difficulties in resolving and displaying members within Outlook for Windows or OWA.
