Cannot sort search results in Outlook Version 16.93.1 (25011917)

MacOS Ventura 13.7.2, Outlook Outlook Version 16.93.1 (25011917)

Search results in 'new' Outlook do not have the column headers that allow user to sort by sender, subject etc..

This functionality is present in Legacy, however the search just doesn't work; it returns "No Results".

It seems from looking at other threads that users have been complaining about this for a few years regarding new Outlook without resolution. I am assuming here that there is no intention to make this functionality available in new version, so I am focusing my efforts on Legacy.

I have rebuilt the Spotlight index about 10 times, using many different methods including dragging the root drive ("/") and the Outlook profile directory () into/out of the Spotlight exclusions. Also done same using command line mdutil -E. Nothing works for 'Legacy'.

This is the procedure followed. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/outlook-search-works-in-new-view-but-not-in-legacy/147b3161-cdc2-4000-8274-fe34c48c0612

I am therefore currently doing searches using the iOS version of Outlook on my fone which is a pitiful workaround.

Any suggestions on how to get this most basic of functionality working in Legacy would be very gratefully received.

thanks.

    Hello BGPK,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I understand that the search function in Legacy Outlook on your Mac is not working properly.

Try manually adding the Outlook profile to the Spotlight index using the mdimport command.

Please replace <user_name> and <profile_name> with the actual names of your folders. Note that you should avoid including special characters in the profile name, as this may cause the indexing to fail.

    mdimport "/Users/<user_name>/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/<profile_name>"

If it still doesn't work, you can try rebuilding the index again after upgrading your macOS version. Sometimes, a version upgrade can resolve certain issues.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Best Regards,
