As per your description, it seems like that you are trying to access your Campas account and have set up a confirmation code to be sent via email.
However, the code is not appearing in your Outlook inbox, and you suspect it is being sent to your Gmail account, which you cannot access due to school restrictions. [I suppose you mean "Campas" account by "Compass", correct me if I am wrong].
Usually, if you have any login issue with your Campas account (educational), you need to ask your school's IT administrator to follow the instruction. Since your user account managed by your school, only they have access to check and configure your user account.
If you are not sure who is your admin, can refer this How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.
Since you have an educational account, only your school administrator has the rights to reset your whole authentication method and password so that you can reconfigure them from the beginning.
Sometimes, some schools might not have Microsoft 365 services. Therefore, they (school's IT administrator) can just easily reset any student's user account from their own local server's system (Active directory).
As you know, the process/ navigation method depends on which type of app version/ license/ subscription you have. To better understand your issue, I need some addition information so that we can narrow down the main reason and find out the root cause by working together.

- What's your affected user ID (Campas account) or domain?
- Can you confirm which email (Outlook or Gmail) is registered with Campas?
- Do you have an alternative way to verify your Campas account (e.g., phone number)?
