Adding roadrunner email account to Outlook

My roadrunner (Spectrum) email account has been tied to Outlook for years. A few days ago, it ceased working in Outlook. I've since deleted the account from Outlook, and have tried to add it again. After going through most of the process, I received the message "Sign in failed. Try again in a few minutes. You may need an app password." What's my next step?

    Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community

    Based on your description, I understand that you are not able to configure your Spectrum mailbox account in New Outlook, please point out if my understanding is wrong.

    Recently many users in the community using the same domain are also experiencing the same issue(Unable to log in/unable to synchronise emails). The main domains affected are Specturm domain and comcast domain. Microsoft has now taken note of this issue, please be patient and wait for the issue to be fixed in the subsequent update of New outlook.

    In the meantime you can try to access your Specturm domain mail using other mail applications such as Thunderbird.

    This posting will remain open for other thoughtful users to express their views. I will also get back to you here as I learn more about the latest situation.

    My husband and I have had roadrunner emails for many many years. We have attempted to add all our email addresses to our new computers mail application. We got all entered except the roadrunner ones. Will not accept our passwords. It continually says "failed". The email addresses show but do not work. Frustrating.

    Is this happening to everyone with roadrunner, spectrum emails?

    Has this issue been resolved. I have the same issue. I messed up and uninstalled. Now get the failed to sign in message. Spectrum support just said it doesn't work and we are not trying to fix.
