Hi,

I'd like to access to my outlook account on a old Macbookpro (macOS High Sierra, version 10.13.6).

I tried with app password on Mail app, but the msg it returns is "Unable to verify the account or password".

[the app is apple Mail, not Outlook for Mac]

    Dear Roberto Castelluccio

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community

Based on your description, I understand that you are having problems trying to configure your Outlook account in the Apple Mail email that you have over in your Mac computer, so please point out if I am misunderstanding you.

I'm sorry, but at this time you are unable to configure your Outlook email account in the Mail application on your Mac computer with Mac OS High Sierra (10.13.6). This is due to Microsoft's full implementation of New Style Authentication, which all Microsoft accounts must now use to log in. Conversely, all applications that do not support the new style of authentication will not be able to configure Outlook mailboxes.

Apple's update strategy changes based on hardware devices. Hardware can limit updates to the MacOS system.

Not being able to get the latest updates for MacOS means not being able to get the latest Apple Mail apps in the Apple Store that are capable of supporting the newer authentication versions.

Based on our testing, it takes at least MacOS Monterey (12.7.6) to get the newer authentication version of the Apple Mail app.

So I suggest you to try to log into your outlook account with another application that supports Microsoft's new style of authentication. Or update your macOS system to get the Apple Mail application that supports the new authentication.

This reply may not directly address your issue, so feel free to let me know how it goes any time by repling below.

I look forward to hearing from you!
