Formatting issues with Outlook HTML email signatures

I'm creating HTML email signatures for clients and I'm stumped on a couple issues that have started happening recently.

#1:

In Outlook for the Web, when I click "Save" on a signature, it adds some padding inside the top and bottom of the table. Here is a gif of the issue (hope you can see whats happening)

#2:

In Outlook for Mac, when I paste the signature, Outlook changes the text formatting to defaults. Here is the issue.

I've tried searching for both issues, and none of the suggestions I find work. I'm stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

Signature, if you want to see the code.

    Dear Christopher Yancey1

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community.

Based on your issue description "Formatting issues with Outlook HTML email signatures "I understand that you're facing an issue saving your outlook signatures.

Before moving forward, could you allow me to gather information below to narrow down your specific scenario?

    • May I please know the type of account you are using? Is it an M365 work/school account or a Microsoft/Personal account like Hotmail/outlook.com/live.com? or is it any third part like Gmail or yahoo account? please reply back to us, so we can involve personal account team for further assistance.
    • where are copied the signature from?
    • Which version of Outlook are you currently using where you are facing this issue?
To provide the details of your Outlook version and product information:
      • For New Outlook: Go to Settings > General > About Outlook.
      • For Classic Outlook: Navigate to File > Office Account.
Please take a screenshot of the entire page (excluding personal information) and share it with us.
For your reference: What version of Outlook do I have?

Meanwhile you may try the following:

After you paste the signature into the signature field, a little box will appear with a clipboard icon. Click on that, then click "Keep Source Formatting". This will post the signature with all its original attributes.

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Thank you for your cooperation. stay safe!

Issue #2 is solved for me, thanks. I was not aware of the "keep source formatting" option in that button.

    For issue #1:

    • This is happening in M365 work account, and also personal Outlook.com account.
    • The signature is copied from an HTML page. It is NOT the HTML code being copied directly, but the visual signature itself.
    • This is happening in M365 work account, and also personal Outlook.com account. Does not happen in Outlook desktop app.

All of the source formattting appears correct, until the "Save" button is clicked. Then extra spacing appears to be added above and below images, which changes the layout.

    Hi Christopher Yancey1

Good day and thank you for replying to us!

Good to hear that issue 2 has been resolved.

issue 1 point to a more complex issue that might require advanced troubleshooting.

that issue may go beyond what can be resolved with basic troubleshooting. it would be useful for the Microsoft backend team (Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn) to examine the issue remotely.

Note: If you're an end user, you may need to contact your enterprise organization's Office 365 global administrator to contact a support engineer for further processing.

Important: If any of your organization's Office 365 Business/Enterprise/Education subscriptions are from a federated partner or reseller and the global administrator can't open a service request on your end, you may need to contact the reseller's support provider so that they can help the global administrator open the service request on your end. After that, the Office 365 support team will participate in the service request that was created.

Thank you for your valuable time and cooperation.
