How do I retrieve emails sent to storage before they're deleted? They're in storage not the delete folder.

    Hi GA007UV,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us. I completely understand how frustrating it can be when important emails end up in unexpected places like the "Storage" folder. I’m here to help you get everything back on track quickly and easily.

If your emails were accidentally moved to a folder called "Storage", here’s how you can find and move them back to your Inbox:

In Microsoft Outlook, if you've accidentally moved emails to a folder named "Storage" (which might be a custom or archive folder, depending on your setup), you can retrieve them before they're deleted by following these steps:

    For Outlook Desktop App (Windows/Mac):

    • Open Outlook.
    • In the Folder Pane on the left, scroll down and look for a folder named "Storage".
    • Click on it to open and view the emails inside.
    • Select the emails you want to move.
    • Right-click and choose Move > Other Folder.
    • Select Inbox or any other folder you prefer.

For Outlook Web (Outlook.com or Office 365):

    • Go to Outlook Web.
    • In the left sidebar, find and click on the Storage folder.
    • Select the emails you want to retrieve.
Click the Move to icon (a folder with an arrow).
    • Choose Inbox or another folder.

If you can’t find the "Storage" folder:

    • Try using the Search bar at the top of Outlook to look for keywords or the sender’s name.
    • Use Advanced Search and filter by folder.
    • Check if the folder is under Archive, Online Archive, or part of a PST/OST file.

If you’re unsure where to look based on the version of Outlook you’re using (desktop, web, or mobile), just let me know, I’ll guide you step by step.

To prevent this from happening again, you can set up a simple rule in Outlook:

    • Open Outlook.
    • Right-click on an email that was moved to "Storage".
    • Select Rules > Create Rule.
    • Choose the condition (e.g., from a specific sender).
    • Under actions, select Move the item to folder > Inbox.
    • Click OK to save the rule.

You can find a full guide on creating and managing rules here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/manage-email-messages-by-using-rules-in-outlook-c24f5dea-9465-4df4-ad17-a50704d66c59

If you're using an organizational email (like from your company or school), it's possible that a rule or policy was set by your IT administrator that automatically moves certain emails to the "Storage" folder or an archive. In that case, I recommend reaching out to your IT department or Microsoft 365 admin to check if any mailbox rules or retention policies are affecting your emails.
