Hello programmer4,
Good day! Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are always happy to help!
First of all, please accept my apologize for the inconvenience caused, problems like this can be frustrating.
I understand that due to issues with the authenticator app, you're having trouble signing in to your Microsoft 365 admin center.
Please note that as a community moderator, I have limited permissions and resetting the authentication method may require special permissions that are ONLY available to an administrator/Microsoft Data Protection support.
Since you are the only administrator, it is recommended that you contact the Microsoft Data Protection support, as we are part of the community team and do not have the authority to reset user/administrator accounts. The data protection team is the only support team that have the capabilities to verify if you are the real admin and can reset the account.
You can find your country's support phone number here: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support
Please note that the global support hotline is for business support, select "for business" or indicate that you are a business tenant administrator when talking to the AI when you are online. Based on my support experience, sometimes the AI isn't smart enough to direct you to the business support team, and some of my customers have tried and had to call multiple times and to be able reach the right team. In this situation, please be patient and try to reach out to the support team more often.
Here are some tips and an example of a command prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:
In some countries, it is an automated conversation such as: When you call the hotline, it is first queried as follows:
IVR: What kind of problem are you concerned about?
You: Authenticator.
IVR: What kind of product do you use?
You: Office 365 for business.
IVR confirmation: education or company account?
You: For companies
IVR: Are you an administrator?
You: Yes.
IVR: Do you have the other administrator in your organization?
You: No.
IVR: Do you need a... Service request?
You: Yes
-> Please see another scenario below:
- Dial the phone number.
- IVR: "Welcome to Microsoft Support. Are you calling home or for business?"
- She: "Business"
- IVR: "How can I help you today?"
- You: "Support for data protection"
- IVR: "Do you already have a case number?"
- You: "No"
- IVR: "Do you have an Access ID?"
- You: "No"
- IVR: "Please hold while I transfer your call to the appropriate team."
I believe they will conduct in-depth research on the problem you encountered and provide you with professional assistance.
Thanks for your precious time and your understanding would be highly appreciated.
