On my Samsung phone MS Excel stops allowing me to switch between the two sheet tabs of my spreadsheet. Why is this?

I have an Excel spreadsheet for recording my blood pressure each day. The 1st sheet has a table for input of readings, the second sheet has two charts displaying the table data.

I usually input the readings then go to the second sheet to see how the graphs look. I often go back - or try to go back - to the first sheet in order to extend the date range ready for the next day but very often it doesn't let me! Why does this happen?

If the app says 'file saved' (ie autosaved) then surely there should not be anything to stop me going back to the first sheet, yes??!!

    Hello Mark,

Thank you for posting this issue on community forum.

It appears that when using Excel on your Samsung phone, the app might be temporarily freezing or not responding when switching sheets, even though autosave indicates the file is saved. This behavior can sometimes occur on mobile devices when the app’s cache or the current version has a minor bug— especially when working with files that include charts or a mix of data and visuals.

    Resolution Steps:

    1. Update the App: Make sure you’re running the latest version of Excel on your device. Updates often address minor glitches that affect navigation. You can check for updates. You can find more guidance on updating Office for Android on our official page: Update Office for Android.
    2. Clear the App Cache: Sometimes clearing the cache can resolve interface issues. To do this, go to your device’s Settings > Apps > Excel > Storage, then tap on Clear Cache. This step helps refresh the app’s temporary files that might be interfering with proper sheet navigation.
    3. Restart Excel and the Device: After updating and clearing the cache, close Excel completely and restart your Samsung phone. Open your spreadsheet again to see if you can now switch between sheet tabs without any issues.

If you continue to experience problems with switching tabs, it might be a temporary bug with Excel for Android related to complex file content.
