The "Next" icon is disappearing in SharePoint Document Management. We have to refresh the page multiple times or go back to the main list to review the next document.

HI team,

We used to have the option to filter documents in SharePoint Document Management. We could review PDFs by clicking the left or right arrow to navigate through different documents.

Since March 2025, this option has disappeared, and now we have to return to the main page each time to open the next document. Could you please assist?

Another issue is that when clicking on a document, the PDF doesn't always display properly — we often need to refresh the page for the PDF to load. This also happens often when we return to the main page.

Thank you.

    Hello Kelly,

Good day to you. Thanks for querying in this forum.

After reviewing your description, I was not able to find the same place from my end, could you please take some screenshots that where the "Next" icon should be showing?

Also, could you help take a screenshot for how does the PDF doesn't always display properly? It will help us to narrow down the issue. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Hope you are keeping safe and well!

    Best regards,

    Hi Dustin,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Please see below example:

In the "Document Management - Invoices" section, if no filter is applied and we click on a file name 0424 below, the invoice opens in PDF with left and right arrows, this allows us to navigate to the next invoice.

However, when a filter is applied—for example, sorting vendor names in alphabetical order below—and we click on a file name, the PDF does not display , only show a black screen,

until we manually refresh the page.

After refreshing, the PDF appears, but the navigation arrows are gone. This means we can no longer move to the next invoice directly and have to return to the main list each time, it is inefficient.

This feature ( Left/Right arrows to move between invoices) works well until March 2025.

    Hope this is clear.

    Hello Kelly,

Thanks for getting back and sharing the details.

I tried to reproduce your issue in my lab, but it seems I can still use "Next" feature even I applied filter. Let me confirm what you mean by filter? You are just filtering out all PDFs or just simply sorting one column in alphabetical order? I tried both but I can still use 'Next"...

And to double confirm if this issue occurs in only one site or all your site from your end? How about other users in your tenant?

After you confirm all these, I would recommend you contact Microsoft online support team, they will help guide you to collect necessary logs to further investigate the issue.

    Hi Dustin,

Thank you for your reply. Yes it is for sorting a column in alphabetical order or by modified date.

I had few days off and when I came back then the next option is available now ( after I applied the sorting). Not sure if this is because Microsoft version update or something else.

    Thank you for your support.
