Dear Fatemah,
I hope you have a good day. Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.
We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and the negative experience this may have caused. Based on your description, I'd like to offer the following insights and recommendations to help address the issue.
Unlike the desktop version of Word, the iPad version does not support full AutoRecover or temporary file recovery in the same way. However, there are still a few things you can try:
Steps to Try
- Check the Files App
- Open the Files app on your iPad.
- Navigate to “On My iPad” > Word or “OneDrive” if you were saving to the cloud.
- Look for a file named something like Assignment 2 or AutoRecovery save of....
- Check Word’s Recent Files
- Open the Word app.
- Tap “Open” > “Recent”.
- Look for any version of your document that may have been saved automatically.
- Check OneDrive or iCloud (if used)
If your document was saved to OneDrive or iCloud:
- Go to onedrive.live.com or icloud.com.
- Sign in with the same account used on your iPad.
- Check the Recycle Bin or Recent Files section.
Unfortunately, if the file was never saved or synced to OneDrive/iCloud, and AutoSave was not enabled, there may be no way to recover the unsaved content on iPad. The iOS version of Word does not store temporary files in a recoverable location like the desktop version does.
I'm truly sorry for the limitations of this feature on the iPad. I truly recognize how disruptive this issue can be to your workflow, especially when you're putting in so much effort to work efficiently. This is indeed a serious concern, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it has caused. Your dedication is greatly appreciated, and we value the time and energy you invest in your work.
