Is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, would you mind providing me with a solution?
Details
- Context
- The device was upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
- Other profiles on the same device do not have this issue.
- Also not able to pin OneDrive Sharepoint site to file explorer side bar.
- Symptoms:
- In File Explorer (Windows 11), the entire navigation pane, including "Home" and other user folders, appears nested under "Desktop."
- The “Home” folder itself is also nested under “Desktop,” leading to confusing navigation.
- Steps Already Taken:
Confirmed the device is properly Entra ID-joined.
Signed in as an admin and created a new profile; the issue did not transfer there.
Used File Explorer "View > Show > Navigation pane > Show all folders" and reset folder view—no lasting effect.
- Checked folder locations under**
C:\Users\Username
**the location settings for “Desktop,” and other user folders appear correct. Verified OneDrive and synced folders. No apparent issues or sync loops. The problem persists with OneDrive signed out. - The issue is specific to one user profile; others display the navigation pane normally. Additional Context:
The display settings (icon and taskbar size) for this user profile were also inconsistent between monitors after the upgrade, but this has been addressed.
Rolling back the update is not viable, as the problem is isolated to the affected user profile.
```**What I Need Help With:**
- I need to restore the standard File Explorer to the original state it was in before the update.
Are there any Entra ID-specific fixes or known issues for profile folder structure and navigation pane corruption after upgrading to Windows 11?
What additional troubleshooting steps or registry tweaks are recommended for correcting the navigation pane layout for a single user profile?
Any insights or links to official guidance addressing "nested under Desktop" navigation issues—especially in Entra ID environments—would be greatly appreciated.
