Concerns exist regarding the future support and availability of Microsoft Access. Is there any official information about whether Microsoft Access will be decommissioned or have support removed?

    Hello @Scott Schneider,

Thanks for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.

As of now, Microsoft Access is still actively supported and included in future Office releases. Here's the latest official information provided by Microsoft:

    • Included in Office LTSC 2024: Microsoft Access is part of the Office LTSC 2024 (Long Term Servicing Channel), which is the perpetual license version of Office.
    • Support Guaranteed Until October 9, 2029: Microsoft has confirmed five years of support for Access as part of Office LTSC 2024
    • New Features in Development: The Access team has also shared updates on new features planned for 2025, indicating ongoing investment in the platform

Some confusion may be caused from the term "end of support" which typically refers to older versions of Access (like Access 97 or 2002). These versions are no longer supported, but many users still run them without issue.

Despite rumors or concerns, Microsoft Access is not being decommissioned. It remains a viable tool for database solutions, especially in small businesses and legacy systems.
