New Teams, Windows 11 24H2:

In task bar, I cannot dismiss notification badges. for Teams.

I have gone to Activity, there are no unread messages in any tabs.

I have marked all as read, even though I cannot find any that are unread.

In Settings in Teams I have turned off all notifications I can find.

How can I clear the Teams Notification Badge? I have multiple users in our organization complaining about this.

    Hi @Lori Collins

Good day! Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum and sharing your detail.

I understand how important it is to have clear and accurate notifications across your organization, and I am here to assist you with detailed steps to address this.

Please follow the instructions below carefully. These have helped many users resolve similar badge notifications:

    1. You can enable and open the Windows Chat App
    • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
    • Go to Personalization and select Taskbar.
    • Under Taskbar items, make sure the toggle for Chat is turned ON.
    • Click the Chat icon on the taskbar to open the Chat app.
    1. You can try to clear Notifications in the Chat App
    • In the Chat window, find the ... (More actions) button at the top-right corner and click it.
    • Select What’s new from the menu.
    • Review and clear any notifications you find here. This often clears the persistent notification badge in Teams because the two apps share notification information.
    1. You can manually clear the Teams Cache
    • Close Microsoft Teams completely, including from the system tray next to the clock.
    • Press Windows + R, type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams and press Enter.
    • In the folder that opens, open the Cache folder and delete all files inside.
    • Restart your computer and then sign back in to Teams.
    1. Reinstall Microsoft Teams (if the badge persists)
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, locate Microsoft Teams, and select Uninstall.
    • Download the latest version of Teams from the official Microsoft website and install it.
    • Restart your computer and sign in again.

If you find these steps helpful, please proceed accordingly. If the notification badge remains after trying them, it may be related to a known issue that Microsoft is actively working to resolve in future updates.

Please feel free to reach out for further assistance or if you would like detailed guidance for any of these steps. We are here to support you.

Thank you again for your patience and for choosing Microsoft Q&A forum. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can assist you with. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
