Dear @Steve,
Thanks for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.
Regarding your concern, Microsoft Teams allows team owners to recommend a channel, which means it will automatically show up in the channel list for all team members. This is not the same as auto-pinning, which is not currently supported.
Please allow me to suggest you a few steps to enable to "“Automatically show this channel in everyone’s channel list” function.
When Creating a New Channel:
- Go to your Team in Microsoft Teams.
- Click “Add channel”.
- Enter the channel name and description.
- Under “Privacy”, choose Standard (not private/shared).
- Check the box: “Automatically show this channel in everyone’s channel list”
- Click Add.
For an Existing Channel:
- Go to the Team name > click More options (⋯) > Manage team.
- Click the Channels tab.
- Find the channel you want to recommend.
- Click the ⋯ next to the channel name.
- Select “Show for everyone”.
This will make the channel visible by default for all team members. They can still hide it manually if they choose.
If the “Show for everyone” checkbox is missing:
- Make sure you’re a team owner.
- The channel must be Standard, not Private or Shared.
- Try using the Teams desktop app instead of the web version.
- Ensure your Teams Admin Center policies don’t restrict channel visibility settings.
