I hope this message finds you well.

We are currently testing a Storage Sense configuration via Intune and have encountered an issue where the policy does not appear to apply correctly to the Downloads folder.

■ Policy Configuration:

  • Allow Storage Sense: Enabled
  • Configure Storage Sense Recycle Bin cleanup threshold: 30 days
  • Configure Storage Sense Downloads cleanup threshold: 30 days
  • Allow Storage Sense Temporary Files cleanup: Enabled
  • Configure Storage Sense cadence: 30 days

■ Test Environment:

  • Policy created using Settings Catalog
  • Assigned to an Azure AD user group (no exclusions)
  • Device is enrolled in Intune and shows policy status as "Succeeded"
  • Recycle Bin cleanup works as expected
  • Downloads folder cleanup appears to have occurred once, but registry key 01 remains set to 0
  • Manual execution of Storage Sense does not remove files from Downloads folder consistently

■ Registry Check:

Path: HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\StorageSense\Parameters\StoragePolicy

Values:

  • 01: 0
  • 04: 1

■ Request:

We would appreciate your assistance in identifying why the Downloads cleanup threshold is not being consistently applied, despite the policy showing as successfully deployed. If there are known limitations, bugs, or additional configuration requirements, please advise.

We can provide screenshots, logs, and further details upon request.

Thank you for your support.
