Hello Hopper. To change your default Outlook calendar to an imported calendar, you'll need to make the data file that a calendar is associated with the default data file. Outlook makes the link from a default calendar to a default data file, not to a calendar folder. Go to it's File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings, then select the data file that your imported calendar (such as a PST) is associated with under the Data Files tab and click Set as Default. Close and restart Outlook so that the change is made.

Making the data file default means when you create new events or receive meeting invites, they will be saved to the calendar that is associated with that data file. If your imported calendar is simply a sub-folder in your main account Outlook will not allow you to set it as default and you will need to manually move the events to it.

Here's the reference: Set default calendar

Hello Hopper. Thanks for getting back. Yes you are correct to notice as the modern version of the program, particularly with Outlook for Windows (2024 and newer), you may find a simplified ribbon or a left-hand navigation in place of the traditional File tab.

To change your calendar in this modern interface, you'll only need to change which account is default for calendar related events. Unfortunately, Outlook still does not allow for an individual calendar folder ( like an imported calendar) to be default. Instead it follows the calendar associated to your default email account or data file.

The steps you should follow are:

Go to the Settings gear in the top right

Search for Calendar Settings or Accounts

Locate the Default Calendar or Event option

If your imported calendar is stored in a PST file, you may also have to access Account Settings using the classic view (located under "View all Outlook settings" or similar) and make that default data file.

Hello Hopper. I appreciate your invaluable patience in trying to sort this out together. Since Outlook seems to not allow this, you can share your thoughts directly with Microsoft using the Feedback Hub app as it’s the official channel for suggestions, bug reports, and feature requests.User's image
