Windows 11 Single Language – Missing Settings After Trying to Enable Sandbox

I’m using Windows 11 Single Language edition, which normally doesn’t have the Windows Sandbox feature. I tried running a script to download and enable Sandbox, but after these system modifications, several system settings disappeared from my Settings app.

Some of the missing sections include:

Windows Update tab

System settings such as Optional features, AI components, System components

Remote Desktop

Projecting to this PC

Recovery

When I search for these settings using the Windows search button, they appear in the results, but when I click them, nothing opens.

I’ve attached a picture comparing the Settings page from a normal Windows 11 Single Language system with mine:

Black screenshot = my affected Windows 11 after the script changes

Please suggest how to restore the missing settings without losing my personal files and apps.

i also performed in place upgrade and getting this error :-

0x8007042B - 0x2000D

The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation.

Open the System Restore utility (click your Start Button, then jsut type rstrui and press Enter) and check if you have a system restore point dated prior to running that script to enable Sandbox, that would be the best method to undo the changes the script made on your system.

    Final Update (Root Cause Found):

I was on Windows 11 Single Language, where Windows Sandbox is not available.

    I ran a script to force-install Sandbox.

This installed Sandbox’s stripped-down environment (from Enterprise edition) into my actual OS.

As a result, many system settings disappeared: Windows Update, Recovery, Reset this PC, Remote Desktop, Optional Features, etc.

Later, I upgraded to Windows 11 Pro and enabled Sandbox officially.

Inside Sandbox (in Pro), I noticed the same settings were missing by design.

This confirmed that earlier I had accidentally merged Sandbox’s environment into my real OS.

    👉 Conclusion:

Windows Sandbox is only supported on Pro/Enterprise.

Forcing it on Single Language will break system settings and updates.

    • The only fix for me was to reset Windows from blue screen with no data losing (choose keep my files option in reset page) :)
