EXCEL Icon white in Desktop

Hi MS Team,

My office Logo especially Excel having White Icon in desktop and its confusing if there is no Logo, please can you help. I tried all the method which are mentioned here.

excel updated, and working on it is fine, but only icon is white in desktop which is confusing me

Since Excel is working fine and only the desktop icon appears white, it's very likely that the icon cache on your Windows 10 system is corrupted.

So, I recommend you try some below solutions:

1. Rebuild the icon cache:

You can press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog and type appdata and click Ok

You navigate to: AppData => Local

Enable “Hidden items” from the View tab.

Locate and delete the file named IconCache.db.

Then, you open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the Processes tab.

Find Windows Explorer, right-click it, and choose Restart.

Your computer will restart, and Windows will rebuild the icon cache.

Additionally, since the application functions are still working normally, you can refer to Step 2 in the article to manually change the shortcut icon. This method allows you to customize the icon even if the default one appears blank or white.

2. Recreate the Shortcut:

You can delete the current Excel shortcut from your desktop.

Press Windows + S, type Excel, right-click on it, and choose Open file location.

In the File Explorer window, right-click on Excel and choose Send to => Desktop (create shortcut)

3. Repair Office:

You go to Control Panel => Programs => Programs and Features.

Then you find Microsoft 365 or Office, right-click and choose Change.

Select Quick Repair first. If that doesn’t work, try Online Repair.

If the issue still persists, please confirm whether it’s only affecting Excel or if other Office apps are also impacted.
