Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
And thank you for your sharing, Kitty Hanks.
I understand how frustrating it can be when a feature you previously enjoyed, like the simple “On This Day” photo view, is replaced with a slideshow and music that doesn’t suit your preferences. You're not alone in this, and unfortunately, there is currently not a direct option to turn it off. However, I can suggest a few workarounds for you to regain a more traditional viewing experience.
- On phone, after opening the Slideshow, swipe up for all photos:
- Or Click the Menu icon (three dots or lines depend on your browser)
- View all photos
- View this moment
While there’s currently no setting to permanently disable the slideshow format, you can manually switch to the classic photo grid using the above workarounds. We have seen many users have expressed similar feedback, and hopefully Microsoft will offer more display options in the future. You can join the force yourself, by opening OneDrive > click Provide Feedback:
Thanks for your time!
