Hello Brett Hardin
Welcome To Microsoft Q&A Forum
I understand the frustration caused by changing the passwords. You're right, there is no direct "Change Password" option for a child account in the Microsoft Family Safety dashboard - this is by design for security reasons.
Here are some steps that you can kindly follow to help reset your child's password:
- Visit Microsoft password reset page
- Select "I forgot my password" and enter your child's Microsoft account email.
- Verify your identity as the parent:
- Use the recovery email or phone number you set up when creating the child's account.
- If you didn't set recovery options, you'll need to full out the Account Recovery Form
- Create a new password once verification succeeds
- Update device and apps:
- After resetting, sign back into the Microsoft Family Safety app and any devices linked to the child's account.
NOTES:
- If the account has no recovery info and no prior activity, recovery might fail. In such cases, Microsoft cannot override the process for security reasons.
- There is no shortcut through Family Safety—it’s the same process as any Microsoft account.
I hope it helps, please feel free to let me know if you need any further assistance.
Thank you for your time.
