Is there a way to install Microsoft Teams on MacOS Monterey. I installed MS Office release 16.88 ( supposed to be the release compatible with Monterey) but it says that web version Teams allowed only?

I have a 2015 MacBook Air with Mac OS Monterey. With this 2015 MacBook model , it will not let me update to OS 13 and above.

I want to install full suite of Microsoft 365 with Teams. Trying to download Teams for Mac does not work since it is asking to update Mac OS to 13. Hence I downloaded Microsoft office release 16.88 build that is supposed to be compatible fully with Monterey.

However, even with downloading and installing MS office 16.88, it is showing Teams cannot be installed, use web version instead.

Can you please help so that Microsoft Teams can be installed on 2015 MacBook Air with MacOS Monterey.

Thanks,

Victor

Hello. Microsoft officially removed native Teams client support for macOS 12 Monterey and older starting July 2024.

Even if you install Microsoft Office 16.88 (the last Office version compatible with Monterey), Teams is no longer included as a standalone desktop app for your OS version. It was removed from both the Teams download page and the Microsoft AutoUpdate pipeline for unsupported macOS builds.

This is by design. Your system is blocked at OS level, not Office version level.

The Teams desktop app now requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer. Monterey users are limited to the web version.
