Wrong name appears when I receive an email from a specific person

When I receive an email from a specific person the name against it appears incorrect.

For example, I receive an email from Joe Blogs @outlook.com but the name appears and Jane Blogs which is a separate contact/name that I have saved in my contacts (2 different people I communicate with). This is obviously confusing because I think I am receiving an email from Jane, but when I look at the email address it isn't, it's from Joe Blogs.

I saved the contact and added the correct name and surname, however this did not work. The emails in my inbox still appear as Jane Blogs. I deleted the contact and tried re-adding it, this also did not work.
Any suggestions? It's driving me insane.

Thanks

Hi there, Amy! This is Marc. Thanks for reaching out to the community.

First, remove the cached entry start typing the person’s email address in a new message, then when it appears in the dropdown, click the X next to it to delete it. Send them a new test email, and Outlook should pick up the correct name from your updated contact.

If that doesn’t work, check for linked profiles in People view and unlink any that might have the wrong details. On Outlook.com, you can also go to Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Compose and reply > Contacts and clear the suggested contacts cache. Once the incorrect entry is gone from both cache and contacts, new messages should display the right name.

Let me know how it goes.

    Best regards,
