Hello @Ross Ashton,
Thank you for posting your valuable question on Microsoft Q&A forum.
You're right about using this feature in Classic (Old) Outlook, you could sort by the From column and jump to a sender by typing the first few letters of their name. Unfortunately, in the New Outlook for Windows, this feature is not currently supported.
However, you can still easily use these workarounds to quickly access the senders information:
Search by Sender
- Open New Outlook.
- In the Search bar at the top, type:
from:sender@example.com
Replace sender@example.com with the actual email address or name. - Outlook will show all emails from that sender.
Create a Rule to Move Emails from a Specific Sender
This helps you automatically sort future emails.
- Go to Settings (gear icon in the top right).
- Select Mail > Rules.
- Click Add a new rule.
- Name your rule (e.g., "Sort Tamara's Emails").
- Under Add a condition, choose:
- From > enter the sender’s email.
- Under Add an action, choose:
- Move to > select or create a folder.
- Click Save.
You have a great idea about how this feature should be reinstated as basic functionality. I encourage you to submit feedback and upvote existing feature requests to show demand from the community at Outlook · Community The Product Team is in-charge of the feedback site, and they are constantly checking the comments and feedback from our customer.
