Hi @Lisa Stevens,
Thank you for your detailed response.
I'm sorry to say that currently, Microsoft Teams Desktop supports spellcheck (highlighting errors), but does not support autocorrect for common typos like “teh” > “the.” This limitation applies even if autocorrect is enabled in Windows settings.
Here are a few workaround steps you can try to improve your experience:
- Verify Spellcheck Is Enabled in Teams Desktop
- Open Teams.
- Go to Settings > General.
- Scroll to Language and ensure “Enable spell check” is turned on.
- Restart Teams to apply changes.
- Enable Autocorrect in Windows OS
- Go to Start > Settings > Time & Language > Typing.
- Turn on:
Autocorrect misspelled words
Highlight misspelled words
These settings apply to many apps, but not all, and unfortunately Teams Desktop doesn’t currently support autocorrect even with these enabled.
- Use Outlook or Word for Composing
- If autocorrect is essential, you might consider drafting messages in Outlook or Word and then pasting them into Teams.
You can also submit feedback directly in Teams via Help > Give feedback to request autocorrect support in future updates.
Sorry again for the inconvenience this limitation may be causing.
If there's anything else I can help, please don't hesitate to reach out again. I'm here to help.
