i created a few custom emojis without the realization it was open to others as well and it tagged who created it as well. It wasnt vulgar or what, just a few pepe memes. but i would like to delete them, and i came to know that only admins can delete them. And i couldnt find out who the admin was.

I mean , i just want to know if there is a possibility where the emoji delete's permission could be by default deleted by users not necessarily an admin? Or is there a way to find out who my organization's administrator is?

    Dear @Laxmen Lai,

Thank you for posting your question on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand you have questions about deleting custom emojis you've created in Microsoft Teams and how to find your organization's administrator.

I can certainly clarify how this works.

    1. Permission to Delete Custom Emojis

In Teams, the ability to delete custom emojis may be restricted depending on your organization's admin settings. If you're seeing the emoji but not the delete option when right-clicking on it, it's likely that deletion permissions are limited by your Teams admin.

I recommend contacting your Microsoft 365 administrator (Only Teams admins can delete custom emojis by default) to verify whether emoji deletion is enabled for your account. Additionally, please note that even after deletion, it may take a few days for the emoji to disappear for all users across the organization.

To check or enable them (for Teams Admins):

    • Go to https://admin.teams.microsoft.com
    • Navigate to Teams > Messaging Policies  User's image
    • Select the policy assigned to your account (e.g., “Global”)   User's image
    • Ensure that “Delete custom emojis” are both set to ON and click Save

    2. How to Find Your Organization's Administrator

If you’re unsure who the Global Admin is within your organization, you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.

Once you have identified your administrator, simply explain the situation and request that they remove the specific custom emojis you uploaded. They will have the necessary access to the Teams Admin Center to fulfill your request.

I hope this information is helpful and enables you to get the emojis removed quickly.
