I am totally confused by this request
I have a family subscription invite which won't let me access word excel

My wife has purchased Microsoft 365 and invited me to use one of her 5 colleague uses. It says I have a live subscription but I cannot access word, excel etc.

2025-08-14T07:24:39.3633333+00:00 I have spent 8 hours on chat and got somewhere, but if I go out of chat, i cannot get back in. Chat was very good at helping, but I don't know how to get back in. The last time it took 1.5 hours to find it and I didn't know then how I got there. I need to get there again.7084191369 is the reference I was given.

Confirm the subscription is actually active on your account
Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the account your wife invited (not hers — yours).
You should see Microsoft 365 Family listed and “Shared by [her name]” under it.
If it’s not there, the invite might not have been accepted correctly — in that case, have her resend the invite and make sure you accept it using the same email you sign into Word/Excel with.
