Hello,

I have 3 desktops that are currently running Windows 10 Enterprise. What is the process to upgrade these to Windows 11 Enterprise? The desktops are in a secured room with no internet access. Could you send me the steps to get these upgraded?

    Dear leo choiniere,

Before proceeding, please ensure the following prerequisites are met for each device:

    • Hardware Compatibility: Devices must meet the Windows 11 system requirements, including:
      • TPM 2.0
      • Secure Boot
      • UEFI firmware
      • Supported CPU
    • Licensing: Valid Windows 10 Enterprise licenses with Software Assurance or equivalent volume licensing entitlement for Windows 11 Enterprise

Since the devices are offline, the upgrade must be performed manually using installation media. Here's the recommended process:

    1. Download Windows 11 Enterprise ISO From a device with internet access, visit the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) or use the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool to obtain the official ISO for Windows 11 Enterprise.
    2. Create Bootable Installation Media Use a tool such as Rufus or the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 11 Enterprise ISO.
    3. Backup Important Data Although the upgrade process preserves files and settings, we recommend backing up critical data before proceeding.
    4. Perform In-Place Upgrade
      • Insert the USB drive into the target desktop.
      • Run setup.exe from the root of the USB.
      • Choose “Upgrade this PC” and select “Keep personal files and apps”.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade.
    5. Post-Upgrade Activation If your environment uses Key Management Services (KMS) or Active Directory-Based Activation, ensure the upgraded devices can reach the activation server locally. No internet access is required for these activation methods.
    6. If your organization uses imaging or deployment tools (e.g., MDT, SCCM), you can integrate the Windows 11 Enterprise image into your deployment workflow.
    7. For environments with strict security controls, ensure the USB media is scanned and approved per your internal policies before use.
